The biggest pink diamonds in the world
The world’s biggest pink diamonds are said to be in the Iranian crown jewels, but nobody really knows where they are now. Some say they are in Teheran, others that they are deposited in the vault of the Imperial bank of India.
Daria–I-Noor
The biggest pink diamond in the world is called Daria-I-Noor meaning “river of light” and is supposed to weigh approximately an astonishing 182 carats.
Nobody knows the weight for sure, as the Daria-I-Noor diamond cannot be unmounted from the beautiful setting due to the risk of damaging both the setting and the diamond.
The diamond was last shown to the public when it was exhibited at London’s Crystal Palace Exhibition in 1851.
Noor-Ul-Ain
The second-largest pink diamond in the world is the Noor-Ul-Ain meaning “light of the eye” which is also part of the Iranian Crown Jewels, set in the most beautiful tiara made by Harry Winston made in 1959.
The incredible pink diamonds weigh 60 carats, and when three Canadian gemologists went to Iran to inventory the Iranian Crown Jewels in 1969 they found out that the Darya-i-noor and Nur-ul-ain diamonds were virtually the same colour and clarity and wondered if these two might not be pieces of the fantastic diamond Great Table.
