Here’s my advice on how to care for your precious diamond jewellery.
- Avoid touching your diamonds – When you touch diamonds, you pass on the oil from your fingers to the diamond’s surface, which makes the diamond look dull and removes its brilliance.
- Remove your jewelry when working with chemicals. Chemicals can make your bathtub sparkle, but they are unsuitable for your diamonds. You should remove your rings and jewelry or use rubber gloves to protect your diamonds.
- Remove your jewelry before doing hard work. While your jewelry is made to hold, if you are too rough with it, you can cause scratches or even twist the prongs that hold your diamond in place. Be cautious, and remove your jewelry before gardening, moving furniture, or going to the gym.
- Don’t swim with your diamond jewellery – The chlorine in swimming pools is harsh and is not suitable for diamonds,
- Put your jewellery on as the last thing in the morning – Using lotions, fragrances or hairspray around your jewellery can damage it and will leave a dull layer of product on your diamonds.
- Go the extra mile and ensure your jewellery – For your peace of mind, I recommend getting your jewellery insured. I can assist you with appraising your jewellery, even the pieces you haven’t bought from me, to ensure they are correctly covered.
Always keep your jewelry in a padded box or a small travel pouch. Even though diamonds are tough, they can be scratched by other diamonds if stored in a rigid container. Keep each piece of jewellery separated in its padded box. I have many available, so let me know if you need an extra one.
Rest assured, I am here to provide professional care for your diamond jewellery. I recommend having it cleaned professionally at least once a year. As part of my comprehensive service, I will clean and check your jewelry, ensuring the prongs and mountings are in perfect shape. If any repairs or rhodination are needed, I will arrange that too. Your jewelry is in good hands and will continue to shine forever.
