A promise ring
A promise ring, or pre-engagement ring, is quite a new concept.
Traditionally, promise rings are perceived as a symbol of commitment to a relationship but they have evolved to function as precursors to engagement rings. As we, and especially brides-to-be, become increasingly more independent, our interest in more special engagement rings as grown. As a result, promise rings have become an emerging trend in the jewellery industry.
Partners often hint about what their special engagement should look like. Nevertheless, I often have young men in my office trying to work out how they could possibly make their special one feel even more special. Design, colour, size, and gold are all up for discussion Should we include a diamond? Should it be round? Maybe something more unique? With all the options it’s no wonder that deciding on an engagement ring poses a challenge, and the poor men really just want to find the perfect ring for the perfect woman.
A temporary but simple solution? A promise ring. Ultimately, a promise ring is a simple band in gold, and usually we incorporate a small tasteful diamond inside. You can decide to engrave a romantic saying inside, to personalize the ring for your partner, and make the piece even more special.
Even you aren’t quite keen on the idea of a promise ring, then here are the newest trends in engagement rings.
10 years ago, a brilliant cut diamond in a white gold band represented the vast majority of engagement rings. Since then, the trend has shifted towards oval diamonds. Oval and drop shape diamonds are quite special as they tend to look bigger than brilliant cut diamonds and they make the finger appear longer and slimmer.
